As part of our space topic we looked at the Geocentric and Heliocentric models of the universe.

We then researched the astronomers who proposed these theories, Ptolemy, Copernicus and Galileo and presented our findings.

What is the difference between these two models?

Scale of our Solar System.

Class 5 were busy using mathematical language to calculate the distances of the planets from the sun, using a scale.

They were surprised to see how close Mercury, Venus and Earth were in relation to the sun and then at the other end of the playground and barely visible was Neptune, at an amazing 45 metres away!

What surprised you most about the distances?
